Despite Government attempts to clarify the landscape for local authorities’ powers to set up innovative transactions and partnerships which improve community well-being, there can often be uncertainty about the extent or proper exercise of a council’s powers. External contractors and funders often require comfort that these issues have been addressed.
Our team includes several former in-house senior lawyers from local government who have extensive experience of finding practical solutions to vires questions, schemes of delegation, preparing reports to Cabinet, exercise of well-being powers and Local Government Contracts Act 1997, as well as experience of defending procurement challenges, judicial and audit review proceedings.
