Building Schools for
the Future
The BSF programme is the capital strategy for renewal of secondary schools in England.
The programme is estimated to be worth £60 billion over the next 10-15 years. The
Government requires that capital investment must be coupled with a step change in
educational outcomes.
The private sector partners chosen to participate in a Local
Education Partnership will offer services beyond traditional building and facilities
management. There will be many policy links with children's services, extended schools, and the Every Child Matters policy targets.
Our specialist BSF team is highly experienced in providing solutions on the legal
issues associated with BSF projects.
We have been actively involved in developing new models for service delivery and
keep fully abreast of the latest policy developments. We are an approved legal advisory services provider on the Partnerships for Schools
legal panel, which provides accreditation to advise procuring local authorities
on BSF and Academies as well as providing a host of further legal services relating
to schools at both local and national levels.
We can help by providing clients with advice throughout the BSF process, from pre-engagement
up to and beyond financial close. Our team of specialist lawyers are currently advising
local authorities on the pprocurement process to select their local education
partners and are assisting service providers in formulating
their bids for these lucrative and important contracts.
The BSF team acted as legal advisers on the London Borough of Lambeth’s BSF project
for the Michael Tippett School, which was voted the most transformational, inspirational
and successful Building Schools for the Future project in the first ‘Excellence
in BSF Awards’.
