Community & Pro Bono

For some law firms a pro-bono programme means sending their staff to work in a soup kitchen or pull bicycles out of the canal once a year. We believe this is not the best way for us to use our talents and contribute to society. We prefer long-term sustainable projects that make a difference to our local community.

We undertake at least one project annually on a pro-bono basis for local charities and community groups. We recently assisted a primary school in south London with the formation of a new school company under the Education Act 2002. This charitable company runs after school clubs and play-schemes and has been the catalyst to becoming an extended community school.

In 2006/07 we assisted a parent promoter's foundation in Lambeth to launch a new school for local childen. We helped them navigate the educational legislation and advised on their constitution and governance arrangements.

In addition, two of our solicitors play a key role as voluntary school governors for local schools.

We also take 2 students from the Don Bosco college in Bermondsey on NVQ work experience programmes every year. We are delighted that several of these students have successfully completed their studies and stayed on with us in administrative or support roles.

If you have a community project that needs legal input and you would like us to consider acting on a pro-bono basis, please contact us.
