New portal for low-value bidding opportunities for Part B health services

A new portal, NHS Supply2Health, has been launched by the Department of Health recently, that allows suppliers and buyers to search for Part B clinical services bidding opportunities for public sector contracts in the health and social care sectors.

Users can register for the service at the website above, which will allow them to search for opportunities using a range of search options including range and category, as well as use of an ‘alert me’ option for new opportunities.

All PCTs must use NHS Supply2Health to advertise bidding opportunities. Where a PCT or provider arm wants to appeal to the international marketplace by advertising through the Official Journal of the European Union (“OJEU”), the opportunity will be advertised on Supply2Health at the same time.

These opportunities are also available through the Government’s Supply2 portal above, an initiative for low-value contracts across numerous areas, including health and social care, which focus on below-threshold opportunities.

Suppliers and buyers can:

search for opportunities using the Common Procurement Vocabulary (“CPV”) codes that public sector purchasers use to classify and describe their contracts;
set up a daily email alert facility;
access high-value contract notices, advertised in the OJEU, for free for the first year and subject to a fee afterwards.

The portal helps suppliers to:

supply a profile to promote their businesses via the Supplier Information Database;
access resources on public sector procurement, including how to put a bid together.

The portal helps buyers to:

facilitate the creation and publication of contract notices (both lower-value and OJEU);
encourage competition and obtain better value for money through access to a wider range of suppliers;
reduce the time taken to assemble tender lists.
